Monthly reading blog:~

I cannot believe Saturday is Halloween! Or Samhain, if you follow the Celtic wheel of the year. I hope you have been keeping safe from Storm Boelo. As I’ve moved back to the Southside this week (so SO happy about this btw), it came as a stark reminder while feeling extremely uprooted to stay grounded. To grow my roots deep as your earthly possessions are packed into a van & driven away!

Due to my precious bookcases being dismantled & packed, I have mostly been listening to audiobooks while I pack. At the end of last month I finished Throne of Glass series, I took a while to get into this one after ACOTAR & would say I definitely still preferred ACOTAR but I love love LOVE Rowan :) so basically read the entire series just for him, you can imagine how difficult Empire of Storms was for me to get through iykyk, no spoilers here!

So, this month I’ve read/listened to :

~Chasing the Sun by Linda Geddes. *** Enjoyed the content about how sunlight is physiologically so important for our mental health but had heard a lot of the theory before. Still a good quick read to reinforce right before winter blues & SAD to hit!

~Awe by Dacher Keltner. *** Really enjoyed listening to his personal story through heartbreak of losing his brother & how he used the art of noticing, to pull into the present moment. Very in keeping with yogic principles.

~Women Living Deliciously by Florence Given. ** I enjoyed this! Don’t get me wrong, but I did feel like a lot of the advice provided was from a lot of books, I’ve already read. A bit of best bits of different self love & self care approaches.

~Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros. ***** What can I say, the artwork, the dragons, loved being back at Basgaith. I even held it together reasonably till page 1969.

~Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid. ** Well, I really was ready to have my heart broken when this finished or feel like I had missed out from missing reading the 1st one. I liked the characters & scope & premise but I do actually like more storyline than was involved with my smut, The smut was good however. I think this is one bandwagon, I’ll be getting off at this stop! I might give the TV show a try now.

“But remember that anyone who tells you you’re “too” anything is using the word because they are threatened by your capacity to grow, evolve and express your emotions.”
― Florence Given.

I’ve not been on my Kindle much this week after packing everything up, but I am SO looking forward to it finally having a case at our Sunday event in November with the Barras Junk Case Queen @HappySadDesigns!

This month’s Yogi Book Club read

We’ve devoured Women Living Deliciously, a little controversial, greatly divided author who I believe has been a bit of a victim of cancel culture. Aside from the content the book is very pretty to read visually & quotation illustrations have been very enjoyable in a month where I’ve had so much going on personally. I finished this month’s book while in a hammock at my best friends wedding in the highlands during the scheduled downtime before dinner. Which definitely seemed to feel like it was straight from the books themes of living deliciously.

There’s something particularly lovely about taking a book beyond the pages & letting its themes spill into other parts of life. That’s at the heart of Yogi Book Club: the monthly book becomes a starting point for yoga practices, themed meditations, contemplation & journaling prompts, creating space to explore the ideas in your own way and at your own pace.

And, of course, there’s always a little Happy Post involved.

You don’t even need to finish the book to be part of it. The book is simply an invitation to connect, explore and spend a little more time with yourself and others who love stories, books and all the wonderful places they can take us.

November’s book is Martha Beck’s : The Way of Integrity, & I cannot wait, I’ve wanted to discuss this one for a while! See you at the club!

As for what’s next on my ever-growing TBR pile? I’ve just started Crescent City House of Earth & Blood, stay tuned… & I’m listening to The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins on Audible.

for now, happy reading!

Love,
Leské
